On a 7-day adventure across the Anti-Atlas Mountains and the vast Sahara Desert is a journey that combines rugged landscapes, timeless culture, and the unique companionship of mules and camels. This extraordinary itinerary allows us to experience the diversity of southern Morocco, from the rocky Anti-Atlas peaks to the golden dunes of Merzouga (Atlas Mountains trekking Merzouga ).

Day 1: Arrival in Marrakesh and Transfer to Ouarzazate

Our journey begins in Marrakesh. After a warm welcome, we cross the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m).

We continue to Ouarzazate  .

Day 2: Trekking in the Anti-Atlas with Mules

After breakfast, we venture into the Anti-Atlas Mountains, accompanied by skilled muleteers. The mules carry our gear, allowing us to trek freely.

The terrain is rugged yet captivating: red rock canyons, almond groves, and traditional hamlets. We spend the evening in a mountain gîte.

Day 3: Crossing Valleys and Nomadic Trails: Atlas Mountains trekking Merzouga 

Our path leads through hidden valleys and ancient caravan trails. Camping under the starlit Anti-Atlas sky.

Day 4: From Mountains to Desert Plains

We descend gradually from the mountains toward the Sahara’s desert plains. The scenery transforms from rugged peaks to vast arid expanses. This day bridges the journey between two worlds: the rocky Anti-Atlas and the sweeping dunes of the Sahara.

Overnight, we stay in a kasbah-style guesthouse.

Day 5: Camel Caravan into the Erg Chebbi Dunes

In Merzouga, the adventure shifts to camels. Mounting our camels, we embark on a slow-paced caravan across the towering dunes of Erg Chebbi.

 We spend the night in a luxury desert camp.

Day 6: Sunrise Over the Dunes and Exploration of Desert Life

We rise early to witness the sunrise over Erg Chebbi. After breakfast, we explore the desert environment: fossil beds,and  ancient ksour (fortified villages).

Visit to the Gnawa of Khamlia. Overnight in a desert riad provides comfort.

Day 7: Return Journey via the Ziz Valley and High Atlas

On the return, we follow the Ziz Valley. The journey takes us back through the High Atlas, before arriving in Marrakesh.

Evening at leisure allows us to wander the Djemaa el-Fna square.
