4-day desert tour from Marrakech to Fes, a journey that takes you through Morocco’s most stunning landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and the legendary Sahara Desert. This immersive experience offers the perfect blend of adventure, history, and authentic Berber hospitality (desert tour Marrakech Fes).
Our journey begins in the vibrant city of Marrakech, where we leave the bustling medina behind and ascend the High Atlas Mountains via the dramatic Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 meters). Along the winding road, we pass through traditional Berber villages.
Our first major stop is Ait Ben Haddou.
From there, we continue to Ouarzazate where you can visit Atlas Film Studios and the impressive Taourirt Kasbah.
We end the day driving through the Valley of Roses, famed for its lush green fields and blooming roses during spring, arriving at Dades Valley.
After a hearty Moroccan breakfast, we set off towards the Todgha Gorges, one of Morocco’s most dramatic canyons.
Continuing our journey, we traverse the desert towns of Tinjdad and Erfoud, famous for their date palms and fossil workshops. We arrive in the late afternoon in Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara and the majestic Erg Chebbi dunes.
We embark on a camel trek into the heart of the golden dunes.
Our camel caravan, led by experienced nomads, makes its way to a desert camp, where we spend the night under a canopy of stars.
Awake early to witness the breathtaking Sahara sunrise over the dunes—an ethereal experience that defines the spirit of the desert.
After breakfast at the camp, we return by camel or 4×4 to Merzouga.
Our route then takes us to Rissani. Explore its bustling market, particularly on market days, where locals trade spices, handicrafts, and livestock.
Driving northward, we pass through the stunning Ziz Valley, where thousands of palm trees stretch along the riverbanks. We then climb into the Middle Atlas Mountains, reaching the town of Midelt.
Tonight, enjoy dinner and overnight stay in a local guesthouse or hotel.
Our final day begins with a scenic drive through cedar forests near Azrou, home to the indigenous Barbary macaques. Next, we stop in Ifrane.
Finally, we arrive in the imperial city of Fes, concluding our 4-day journey. Fes is renowned for its ancient medina, spiritual significance, and rich artistic traditions.
