Known locally as The Happy Valley;  this lush green oasis stretches approximately 30 kilometers through a stunning landscape of terraced fields, and  ancient walnut groves, all surrounded by towering peaks that reach heights over 3,000 meters.

Geographically, Ait Bougmez sits approximately 200km east of Marrakech, at elevations ranging from 1,800 to 2,200 meters, making it both accessible and high enough to escape the intense Moroccan summer heat.

  • Considerations: Some high passes may still be snow-covered, occasional rainfall

Summer (June to August)

  • Advantages: Reliable weather, all routes accessible, cultural festivals
  • Considerations: Hot midday temperatures, more tourists (though still fewer than Toubkal)

Autumn (September to October)

  • Advantages: Excellent visibility, comfortable temperatures, harvest activities
  • Considerations: Shorter daylight hours, cooler evenings

Winter (November to March)

Recommended Timing: The optimal periods for trekking are mid-April to early June and mid-September to late October, when temperatures are comfortable, precipitation is minimal, and the landscape is particularly beautiful.
